Nine Decedents – Bi Xi – February 2012

The first in a new series of illustrations inspired by the legends surrounding the dragons nine sons or decedents. Bi Xi is the dragon’s first descendent, he has a body like that of a tortoise and the head of a dragon. It is believed that he is capable of bearing heavy loads and helps people find strength through hardship. His image is often incorporated into the foundations of buildings and can be found holding up pillars.
